EcowasThe Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS) is a regional group of fifteen countries, founded in 1975. Its mission is to promote economic integration in “all fields of economic activity, particularly industry, transport, telecommunications, energy, agriculture, natural resources, commerce, monetary and financial questions, social and cultural matters

World BankThe World Bank is a vital source of financial and technical assistance to developing countries around the world. Its mission is to fight poverty with passion and professionalism for lasting results and to help people help themselves and their environment by providing resources, sharing knowledge, building capacity and forging partnerships in the public and private sectors.

USAIDThe American people, through the U.S. Agency for International Development, have provided economic and humanitarian assistance worldwide for nearly 50 years.

 

UEMOAThe West African Economic and Monetary Union (or UEMOA from its name in French, Union économique et monétaire ouest africaine) is an organization of eight states of West Africa established to promote economic integration among countries that share a common currency, the CFA franc. UEMOA was created on January 10, 1994 by the Heads of State and Government of Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Niger, Senegal, and Togo. On May 2, 1997, Guinea-Bissau, became its eighth (and only non-Francophone) member state.

ALCOThe Abidjan - Lagos Corridor Organization (ALCO), funded by the World Bank, the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, is a joint program of the governments of Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, Benin and Nigeria. Its objectives are prevention, treatment and care of sexually transmitted Infections (STIs), HIV and AIDS and the facilitation of the free movement of people and goods under the ECOWAS Trade Liberalization Scheme.

ATPUSAID’s Agribusiness and Trade Promotion (ATP) project works to increase the value and volume of intraregional agricultural trade in West Africa.

WHO IS BORDERLESS?

Borderless is a collaboration developed by Publicis Ghana for the USAID West Africa Trade Hub and public and private sector stakeholders including ECOWAS, UEMOA, USAID, the World Bank, the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor Organization, the USAID Agribusiness and Trade Promotion and Enhanced Agribusiness and Trade Promotion projects, the USAID Economic Growth Project in Senegal (PCE), the USAID Integrated Initiatives for Economic Growth in Mali (IICEM), TransAlloman Togo, Verhad Trucking and Haulage Ltd. in Ghana and with support from the the Governments of Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal and Togo.

WHAT DOES BORDERLESS DO?

Borderless fosters change by bringing to light trade inefficiencies throughout the region. Through the work if its partners, research is underway to find what are the most paralyzing obstacles to producers, traders, buyers and investors. The findings are published and the data is used to pressure decision makers to change policy to help develop their economies.
